Outdoor Wilderness Survival Training, & Emergency Response Weekend Intensive Training For: Parents, Hikers, Backpackers, Campers, Drivers (especially those that like taking the scenic routes!)
Anyone who is concerned about keeping themselves and their loved ones safe when equipment malfunctions, weather turns, injuries happen, vehicles break down, batteries die, or a multitude of other issues come up.

Training covers: This 3 Day/2 Night Weekend Intensive Survival Training is a more in-depth field exercise covering Core Wilderness Survival Training Essentials.

Students may build on previous experience from our other trainings, and demonstrate their functional grasp of essential survival concepts during this multi-day exercise. This can also be taken as a standalone course, and is an excellent course for both experienced outdoor folks as well as beginners.

Complete Wilderness Survival Course Description:

Survival Prioritization: How to plan and prioritize properly in order to be prepared for and ready to tackle wilderness survival situations anywhere in the world.

Hydration Management & Survival Water Best Practices:
All things water: Indicators, Environmental Considerations, Disease Processes, Collection
Methods, Filtration vs Purification, Commercial Devices, Chemical Purification, and Thermal
Purification, Water Collection, Filter Construction, Use of Commercial Purifier (Gray), Boiling 212deg

Survival Thermoregulation + Shelter Systems:
Thermoregulation Overview + Importance of Shelter.
– How to dress (Clothing Considerations), Boots, COLDER Acronym
– Types of Shelters based on environment
– Rope Corral/Knots, Rapid Ridgeline construction
– Tarp Shelters Individual/Buddy Team
– Winter Style Shelter (Mors Super Shelter)

Survival Fire Training: Everything Fire Modern to Primitive:

*Some of the exercizes will be conducted in hours of limited visibility

Critical Wilderness First Aid Fundamentals:
Training covers some common Wilderness First Aid Basics.
 – MARCH Acronym (Patient Assessment), Dressing a wound, Tourniquet Application, Splinting, Litter Construction

What to Bring/Wear: (Dress suitable to the weather, be prepared for changes!)  (Please contact us before purchasing any gear for this course.  Our goal is to give you information to help you make informed purchase decisions in the future, not spend a lot of money on gear you may not actually need.)

For Both Weekend (Friday Evening – Sunday Evening) & Week-Long Courses:

Required Items:
– Closed-toe shoes (hiking boots preferred)
– Long pants
– Sun hat
– Long-sleeve shirt
– Extra pair of socks
– Warm layers (including a warm hat and gloves, depending on season/forecast)
– Rain gear (prepare for unpredictable weather)
– At least 2 large full water bottles (minimum 2 liters) and extra water
– 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 Dinner and snacks (1 Dinner will be provided)
– Bowl/plate and utensils (metal items are loud!)
– Camp knife (multi-tool, folding knife with a lock, or fixed blade)
– Headlamp with extra batteries (red light setting preferred)
– Bedroll suitable for local nighttime temperatures (thermal pad and sleeping bag
recommended)
– Shelter (tent with ground cloth, or tarp with line and optional stakes; subdued/earth-toned
colors preferred)
– Medications and health items (bring twice the needed amount for the planned duration),
including minimal toiletries.
– Safety Glasses

Optional Items:
– Survival items for practice or discussion (maps, compasses, fire starters, medical kits, etc.)
– Sunscreen
– Sunglasses
– Bug spray or bug head-net (seasonal)
– Camp chair/crazy creek/sit pad
– Note-taking materials
– Leather gloves
– Personal camouflage items (face paint, fabric, etc.)

Class size: Maximum of 10 participants, minimum of 5. (If a course is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be issued. Sign up early for discounted early-bird pricing).

Please don’t bring pets or young children unless cleared through SERE Training School Directly.

Dates and Time: All weekend Core Wilderness Survival Training adventures runs from 12 PM Fri to 12 PM Sunday unless specifically noted otherwise. Available class dates are noted below.

Training Locations: All weekend courses will be within a one-hour drive of the city listed in the training date/course location section below. Directions to specific class locations will be emailed to you prior to the course, after registering for a particular class – Please see below for class dates and general locations.

Age requirements:  Clients should be a minimum of 10 years old and in reasonably good physical shape. All children 17 years or younger must have legal parental permission to attend the course and all children 10-16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is also registered for the course.

Private Group Courses are available:
We also do private courses, team-building retreats, corporate events, birthday parties, etc… You get the folks together and tell us when you want to go-weather and schedules permitting! Cancellation Policies:
Trip cancellation by clients must take place at least 28 days prior to the start of the trip in order to be eligible for a refund.  On rare occasions, a trip is prevented from running due to land closures relating to dangerous weather conditions, fires, etc. You will be notified promptly if a closure occurs and the trip is prevented from running and will receive the option to reschedule for a later trip date or to receive a full refund.
